Rosenthal files for insolvency
Selb/Germany. Rosenthal AG submitted a petition for insolvency to the local court in Hof (Bavaria) on January 9, 2009. Attorney-at-Law Volker Böhm from the Schultze & Braun law offices has been appointed provisional insolvency administrator. Böhm will be continuing the business operations in cooperation with the Board of Directors without limitations.
The cause is the insolvency of the parent company, Waterford Wedgwood plc, which was made known on January 5, 2009. Rosenthal was not affected by this to start with, but the agreed loan facilities were no longer available as a direct consequence of the Waterford Wedgwood insolvency. "As this is only an effect resulting from the insolvency of the parent company, I see good chances for Rosenthal“, said Böhm.
